Caring for your flowers
Hey there, flower enthusiast! So you've got yourself a bouquet from Posy Laboratory, and you're ready to learn some floral care. Here are some pro tips on how to keep those petals popping and those stems strutting their stuff.

Snip those stems.
When you snag a bouquet from Posy Laboratory, the stems should already be snipped, and your flowers will stay fresh for a few days. But after a couple of days, give those stems another snip when you change the water. Clip off at least an inch from the bottom of the stem, and do it at a 45-degree angle. It lets the flowers slurp up more water and stops them from drooping.
Grabbing the right vase.
If your bunch didn't bring its own vase (like our grab-and-go bouquets), getting the perfect vase size is an important step for your cut flowers. Different vases play nice with different flower amounts and types. So, pick a vase that lets your flowers spread out without elbowing each other – crowding can lead to an early wilting party. If your bouquet’s too big for any vase you own, no sweat. Just pop a few buds into a smaller vase to make sure everyone's got some elbow room.
Chunkier blooms, like peonies, need a shorter vase to stop their heads from doing the limbo. They can lean on the vase's edge or buddy up to support each other and stay upright. Delicate posies like roses can rock the tall vase look. If your vase's opening is a bit snug, don't squish things – either trim some stems or upsize the vase. On the other hand, if your vase opening could double as a swimming pool, your arrangement might look like a hot mess with no shape.
Bye-bye extra leaves.
Before you drop those flowers in the vase, take a sec to pinch off any extra leaves that would be underwater. It’s like a leafy spa day – fewer leaves means less bacteria partying in the water, keeping things smelling fresh. Plus, your blooms get to steal the spotlight, and they'll stay perky for longer.
Time for some food.
After snipping, plunk your freshly chopped blooms into a vase with room temp water. Add one of these foods to the water:
A pack of flower food: Classic move to keep those blooms dancing longer. The formula can vary, but usually, there's sugar to feed the flowers, acid to keep the water in the right pH zone, and a touch of bleach to beat down bacteria and fungi. All-star combo for flower longevity.
Or try some homemade food: Pour in 1/4 cup of clear soda or mix 1 teaspoon of sugar and 2 teaspoons of lemon or lime juice. Flowers love this snack pack – carbs and acid to keep them fueled and fragrant.
Chillax your blooms.
Your flowers love hanging out in a chill, shady spot with soft sunlight – not too bright, not too hot. Give 'em some space away from windows, vents, and drafts. Cool vibes are the rule, except for tropical blooms; they dig the heat and humidity.
If you're feeling fancy, tuck your bouquet into the fridge each night. Flowers kinda adore the cold – it's like a fountain of youth for them. Just keep them away from fruit; the gas fruit emits can put a damper on the flower party.
Change the water.
Every few days be sure to change the water.
